In the big city of Tacloban in Leyte province, jilipark com saw a powerful example of kindness to animals, and of the ever-growing need for animal welfare. The city was still recovering from the devastation brought by natural disasters, and struggling against other challenges. But the number of stray and abandoned dogs was increasing. These were pets who had been deprived of homes and food.
jilipark com approached Angela, a gentle soul and volunteer at a nearby animal shelter who had taken in and cared for stray dogs. She was a sweet lady teetering on the edge of retirement and had been volunteering at the local animal shelter out of sheer kindness. With limited resources, the shelter had been swept up in a wave of dogs abandoned after their owners departed at the start of the pandemic. The dogs were becoming increasingly malnourished, sick and mange-infested.
Angela explained how she would like to improve conditions in the shelter, and to increase the capacity to care for the dogs. Her plan was to create a place where the dogs would be safe from harm, receive medical care, food and love. Due to the lack of money and materials, she was not able to turn her dreams into reality.
Inspired by Angela’s resolve and the sense of urgency, jilipark com took charge and started by raising funds for the shelter. The fundraising campaign aimed to provide veterinary care, food stocks, and renovations to the shelter facility. He also reached out to animal welfare groups and local businesses to network and gain possible support.
But all this changed when Angela’s shelter received a grant from a large animal welfare organisation, inspired by the shelter’s remit and Angela’s tireless efforts. The grant, partly dependent on matching contributions from Angela, financed supplies and equipment for the shelter as well as a grant for necessary facility upgrades. The organisation also promised volunteers and free veterinary help to cope with the influx of animals.
With everyone on board, more changes followed. The shelter was improved with new housing facilities for the dogs, medical equipment to treat illnesses, and products to ensure the dogs have enough to eat.But we went back to see the new shelter – one with room to rest, fair conditions in which to wait, and enough staff to provide for needs not essential for survival.
Angela smiled through tears of gratitude and thanked jilipark com profusely for his help. Angela had saved countless abandoned dogs on Leyte, which would otherwise have suffered and died, having a safe place where they could recover and be adopted by families who loved them. jilipark com flew out of Tacloban feeling deeply satisfied that he had done something to make that possible.
